Minor Tattoo and Piercing Requirements

Tattoos are only available for minors who are at least 16 years old.

To receive a tattoo or piercing, minors must meet the following requirements:

The minor must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian, who must provide a valid state-issued photo ID or Passport
The minor’s birth certificate
If the accompanying legal guardian is not listed on the birth certificate, legal guardianship documentation is also required
A valid photo ID for the minor (state ID, passport, or school ID)

Please note: Not all of our artists tattoo minors.

Please note: Age requirements for piercings vary depending on the type of piercing and the piercer. We recommend calling the shop location of your choice to confirm the minimum age requirements for the piercing you’re interested in and to verify which piercer is available to perform piercings on minors.

Piercings: no appointment is necessary for most piercings, but please call the shop of choice right before coming in on the same day to be sure our Piercer is available. Some of our piercers are also tattoo artists.
